Summer is in full swing, the perfect time for a field of sunflowers to show off. Have you ever been driving on the highway in the summer and seen a patch of wildflowers and thought, “I wish I could pull over and get some photos there!”? Because, same. Luckily, The Loft at Sunflower Trail in Mocksville, NC provides the sunflowers and a safe spot to take photos. I partnered with the venue recently and hosted a giveaway to win a sunflower filled summer engagement session.

That is where I came to know Thomas and Courtney – they were the lucky winners! It was such a privilege to have them in front of my lens, they radiated such joy and happiness. I loved their two different coordinating outfits – one was more casual and the other was a bit dressier. Always bring two outfits to your session, you will not regret it.

Sunflowers in Bloom for Summer Engagement

Did you know once sunflowers bloom, they only stay in bloom for about 20 days? This is why it’s pivotal to plan your sunflower summer engagement session at the right time, or else you’ll miss this amazing opportunity! The season for sunflowers are June through August, with July being their best month in North Carolina. While the time of year matters depending on what you’re wanting to capture in your session, time of day is also essential. Notice how the lighting isn’t too harsh for Thomas and Courtney’s session? We were able to capture their images in the peak of golden hour – which made for extra glowy and romantic shots! This session was so fun, I had so much fun with this sweet couple!
