Adventures continued…..
Day 4- We started off with an amazing breakfast at The Buffalo Cafe. Pancakes for breakfast yes please! We drove around so that I could take some photos of a
few local barns in the area. Then our afternoon was filled with DOG SLEDDING! Talk about a once in a lifetime experience – these dogs were amazing & we had a blast on our 12 mile ride! The love and passion these dogs have for pulling a sled is undeniable, every dog was just itching & clawing to go on this adventure. They truly love what they do! Dog Sled Adventures did not disappoint, Jeff & his team were so fun to be around & we really enjoyed all of Jeff’s stories throughout our ride. Did I mention we ended the ride with cookies & hot coco!
Day 5- We hit the road again and headed to Libby, MT (lowest elevation in MT – weird, I know) not really sure what to expect, but we wanted to see what else was out there. I did some brief research and found the Kootenai Falls & Swinging Bridge— WHAT?! Yeah, that was my reaction too. The falls were so LOUD and green, the water was a crazy shade of green and I can imagine it had to be super cold – I kept my distance – you weren’t coming out of that if you fell in! We took in the falls and then hiked over to the swinging bridge that happens to be about 2,000 feet in the air over a river.. um, am I really going to go across this?! I DID say it was SWINGING right? Seth, didn’t hesitate to start across the bridge, I on the other hand did & I’m not super afraid of heights, but this made me a little queasy. I eventually mustered up the courage and started across – I didn’t come this far to not cross a swinging bridge. So I did it! Then we had to turn around and cross it again – My Fitbit tracked my heart rate at over 100 – whew, I was glad to be back on solid ground! We headed on & stopped at a few fly fishing shops along the way as well. All in all it was a good day!
Day 6- Last Day! Did I mention how lucky my husband is to have a professional photographer as his wife – he gets a personal photographer while I get .. well cell phone pics. It makes me a bit salty, but I suppose I will just have to teach him my ways 🙂 I digress, it’s our last day in Whitefish & we head back to Missoula today, but we still have an incredible experience to do before we leave. We headed up to Big Mountain & Ski Whitefish to catch a ride on the ski lift and head to the summit. It’s almost like a hidden gem, but there is a Summit House on top where you can eat & grab a drink all while taking in the 360 degree views atop the summit. The ride up is a bit hairy if you’re not into heights or being on a ski lift – not strapped in. It was quite the ride though- Now I said we didn’t have snow while we were there & we didn’t but the mountain did get snow! We got to the top and it was a windy & brisk 20 degrees. That view was so worth it you could see Glacier National Park, Whitefish Lake & even Canada (or at least I think). See for yourself how stunning it was! I wish I would have went skiing!
I couldn’t leave without stopping at Cowgirl Coffee Company before we left, another amazing coffee place in Whitefish. I mean I might move to Montana just for the amazing coffee shops! After that surreal experience we made our way back around Flathead Lake (which is amazing & had an island on it with a few wild horses and other wildlife – it’s massive). One thing I love is landscape photography, especially old barns so we had a few on my list that we stopped at on the way back. We also stopped at the National Bison Range (not much to see in the winter which is unfortunate. We even stopped at the Ewam & Garden of One Thousand Buddhas in Arlee, pretty crazy to see.
That basically wraps up this trip, we made a lot of memories! I can’t wait to get back there in August!
Sounds AMAZING! I have to say though… that bridge terrifies me!! I don’t think I could’ve done it. I get nervous walking over “normal” modern bridges hahah! Everything looks simply beautiful.
Aw thank you, it was certainly amazing!! Haha, trust me it was hard to cross it!!
This is giving me major travel envy!! I absolutely adore Montana and am dying to go back! Beautiful photos!
Thank you! Montana is the absolute best!!
OMG I’ve never seen snow like that! WOW! My hubby-to-be and I are heading to Glacier Nation Park on our honeymoon this September! Gorgeous images!
Thank you!! Oh my goodness you will love it!!
