Most of you that know me, know that my life has always centered around agriculture and I first fell in love with photography while taking photos in our family’s hay fields long ago. As I’ve gotten older and times are a changing I feel it’s so important to be an agvocate & share my passions & other’s passions in the agricultural industry. I wanted to use my talents to share the stories of those who farm, ranch, and live the day to day life out in the fields. I’ve not only done this with my photography, but also in my other business Rural Roots where I share recipes from Farm to Table.
So here’s one of those stories:
I had the opportunity to work with John & Emily of Bravo Steaks this summer, I had been following them on social media for quite some time so I was thrilled when Emily asked me to come out to their farm in Autryville, NC. At Bravo Steaks they raise beef cattle & Berkshire pork, and they ship directly to YOU! When I met John & Emily it’s like I’d known them forever, talking cattle will do that! I enjoyed getting to see their operation, the way they care so deeply about their animals, their knowledge & their passion – they love what they do & it’s clear to see. They not only care about their animals, but they care about the products that they are putting out there and I can speak first hand on how delicious their pork & beef are. Hands down my favorite breaksfast sausage links have come from them! So if you would rather buy your meat from a local farmer over a comemrical chain grocery store which I highy recommend you do, look into Bravo Steaks you won’t be disappointed.
John and Emily Barnes own and operate Bravo Cattle, LLC and Bravo Steaks, LLC. John and Emily are native North Carolinians who met over a mutual interest in livestock. John attended college at Kansas State University, and Emily is a graduate of North Carolina State University and UNC-Chapel
Hill.
Bravo Steaks was launched in 2019 to sell dry aged beef and Berkshire pork direct to consumer, shipped to homes nationwide. Beef and pork are sold online via
www.bravosteaks.com and shipped directly from the farm, frozen on dry ice. In mid-2020, Bravo Steaks launched the Bravo Co-Op, a meat subscription service.
In addition to the cattle and hogs, John and Emily have three special pets – Otis the goldendoodle, Clementine the border collie, and Tex the gray cat.
